La Vampires and Matrix Metals - 'So Unreal'

La Vampires and Matrix Metals - 'So Unreal'
_
Episode two in season one of the LA Vampires Collab Chronicles finds her joining forces with elusive alien discotech-head Matrix Metals of the nomadic Outer Limits Recordings cabal. Blurry cassette-loop architectures groove and grind under jazzy Casio canopies while Ms. LA Vamps screws it all down, layering in square-wave keyboards, echo FX, drum machine detailing, low-end throbs, and sings lead on a gold spray-painted microphone. The entire LP shares that 'melting-on-the-dashboard’ warped-world tonality of all the choicest Outer Limits tracks, and the fried radio rhythm backing beats coax out a hidden sunbleached drugged pop vocal mode not evident on any of her previous vinyl.

JAMES FERRARO - LAST AMERICAN HERO

JAMES FERRARO - LAST AMERICAN HERO
OESB-37
***
"Fantastic new album from James Ferraro - a series of meditations on American concepts of heroism and freedom as refracted via MTV, Hollywood and various black magic marketing strategies. Starts off with an unexpected slow avant blues guitar piece that picks up organ and synth to sound uncannily like early Charalambides before breaking into an electric boogie that serves to conflate notions of authentic outlaw forms and clichéd rebel shorthand while sounding totally fucked up." - David Keenan, Volcanic Tongue.
